This Privacy Policy describes how the AppBuster Android application (“AppBuster”, “the app”, “we”) handles information when you use it. AppBuster is a utility that provides a floating overlay button to force-stop or restart the foreground application on your device.
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information ourselves.
AppBuster does not include any analytics SDK, no crash-reporting backend, no telemetry, and no user accounts. All settings (button color, transparency, language, behavior preference) are stored only on your device using Android’s local Preferences storage.
The app does, however, include Google AdMob to display banner advertisements at the top and bottom of the home screen. AdMob may collect device-level information (such as advertising identifier, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, and basic device characteristics) in order to serve relevant ads. That collection is governed entirely by Google’s privacy policy:
You can opt out of personalised advertising in your Android system settings (“Ads” → “Opt out of Ads Personalisation”) or reset your advertising ID at any time.
| Permission | Purpose | Data collected? |
|---|---|---|
| Accessibility Service | Detects which app is in the foreground (so the floating button knows which app to act on) and automates the system’s “Force stop” button on the Android App Info page (this is the only way a user-installed app can fully terminate another app without root access). The service reads only window-state-change events and the foreground package name — it does not read screen content, keystrokes, passwords, or any personal data, and it does not transmit anything off the device. | No |
| SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW (“Display over other apps”) | Renders the draggable floating button overlay on top of other apps. | No |
| INTERNET | Required by Google AdMob to fetch and display advertisements. AppBuster itself does not make any network requests. | See AdMob section above |
| ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Required by Google AdMob to check connectivity before requesting an ad. | No |
| KILL_BACKGROUND_PROCESSES | Used to terminate background processes of the target app as a supplementary step on older Android versions. | No |
| REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS | Allows AppBuster to request exclusion from Android’s Doze mode so the floating-button service is not killed in the background. The user grants this explicitly. | No |
We disclose this prominently because Google Play scrutinises any non-assistive use of the Accessibility Service. AppBuster uses the Accessibility Service for two specific, narrow purposes:
TYPE_WINDOW_STATE_CHANGED events to identify which app is currently in the foreground. This determines the target of the “Close & Reopen” or “Just Close” action when the user taps the floating button. The Accessibility Service does not record, transmit, scrape, or persist any window content. Its scope is limited to (a) reading the package name of the foreground window and (b) clicking specific labelled buttons inside the Android Settings App Info screen.
AppBuster is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you are under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction), please do not use AppBuster.
Ad content delivered by Google AdMob may be served only as non-personalised by your device-level settings; you can also disable ad personalisation via Settings → Google → Ads on your device.
Because AppBuster itself does not collect any data, there is nothing on our side to retain or delete. All app settings live locally on your device and are deleted automatically when you uninstall the app.
For data collected by Google AdMob, please refer to Google’s retention policies linked above.
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and, where appropriate, surface a notice in the app on the next launch. Continued use of the app after such an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
